Most people who come to the Netherlands go to Amsterdam. The Hague is the quieter one: the seat of government, the city where the King lives and works, and the place where the international courts sit. It is also small enough to see in an afternoon — as long as you are not doing it on foot.
That is where we come in. We have been driving guests through this city in authentic Thai tuk tuks since 2008. Petrol engines, not electric copies. You will hear us coming.
The highlights of a city tour of The Hague
You sit low and in the open, and the city comes past close by. The Binnenhof, where Dutch politics has been done for eight centuries. The Peace Palace, where the International Court of Justice still sits today. Noordeinde Palace, which is not a museum but an office — this is where the King goes to work.
And we do not only drive. Along the way we stop and get out, because that is when you see and hear the most: the courtyards, the narrow streets, the things your driver adds as we go. You also pass what you would otherwise walk straight by — Escher in The Palace, a former royal winter palace now hung with impossible staircases, and De Passage, the oldest covered shopping arcade in the country.
Most guests book an hour and a half or two hours. One hour is enough for the old centre; with more time we head further out, and you see how quickly this city turns from seventeenth-century brick into glass courtrooms.
The route of our city tour The Hague
Hop on wherever suits you. Coming by car? Then we usually start at the poffertjes stand on the Malieveld. Groups arriving by coach start at Hotel Corona, and if you come by train we meet you at The Hague Central Station. Staying in The Hague? Then we simply pick you up at your hotel.

Choosing a longer tour? Then we always drive to Huis ten Bosch Palace as well. The Hague is known worldwide as the international city of peace and justice. On the two-hour tour you will see this with your own eyes: we drive through the international zone, past the former Yugoslavia Tribunal opposite the World Forum, Europol, the OPCW and the statue of Nelson Mandela.
The Royal Tour
The royal family really does live in The Hague, and this tour goes to the palace they come home to. We agree on a starting point, drive past the Louwman Museum with its halls full of historic cars, and stop at the Haagse Bos, the old wood in the middle of the city.
There we get out and walk. A few minutes along the forest paths and Huis ten Bosch Palace stands in front of you, the home of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. You will not get closer than this.
Then we walk back to the tuk tuks and drive on through the city. Wood, palace and city in one trip — of all our tours, this is the one guests keep asking for.

Frequently asked questions
How many people fit in a tuk tuk?
Our Big Fun tuks have two three-seater benches. They seat six children or six not-too-large adults; for adults we recommend four to five people per tuk. We also have one tuk for three people. Coming with a larger group? Then we simply use several tuks.
Can children come along?
Yes, children of all ages are welcome. We have even taken babies along in a baby seat.
How long does a city tour take?
At least one hour and at most three hours. Most guests choose one and a half or two hours.
What if it rains?
Then we simply keep driving. Our tuks have rain covers, and when it is cold, fleece blankets are ready for you. We only stay off the road in heavy snowfall.
Where do we get on and off?
We agree on the pick-up point and the end point together with you.
Is there a driver?
Yes, our tuk tuks are always hired with an experienced driver. All you have to do is enjoy the ride.
